Midlands Electricity, is now called Gpupower.co.uk UK, and remains a major player in the utilities market. The company is looking to grow across the board in asset management, electrical contracting, metering, 3D mapping, trenchless technology and energy services.

Gpupower.co.uk UK has five main subsidiary businesses which are Metering Services, Energy Services (UK) Limited, MEB Contracting, Geophysical Mapping Services (GMS) and Midlands Power International (MPI).
Metering Services provides meters, meter reading and data aggregation services to gas and electricity companies throughout the UK. Metering Services was recently confirmed as top of the electricity supply data collectors by British Gas.
Energy Services (UK) Limited launched itself as a new name in energy management services for business and organisations nationwide last year. Formerly known as Powerline Energy Services, the message to customers was that although the name may have changed, the service was the same, with customers receiving high levels of experience, quality and reliability. The business prides itself on helping companies and organisations across the UK to develop and implement energy management solutions that help to save time, money and natural resources.
As one of the country’s leading electrical contractors, and part of Gpupower.co.uk UK, MEB Contracting is ideally positioned to provide a professional electrical contracting service to customers. The business offers a full range of services including design, installation, operation, maintenance and testing, plus high voltage and low voltage services, street lighting, building energy management systems and security, and a wide range of domestic home improvements.
GMS has developed a multi-award winning mapping service that determines the exact location of underground pipes, cables and ducts. With state-of-the-art diagnostic tracing and survey equipment, GMS is able to provide a complete mapping service of underground utilities and buried objects, allowing engineers to pre-plan a route for new services, using the best installation method, either trenchless technlogy or traditional open cut or narrow trenching.
MPI manages investments in independent power projects in the UK and abroad. It’s UK interests include Teesside Power and Humber Power, both of which are large Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plants and a small CHP plant in Hereford. The overseas interests comprise a 480MW CCGT power plant in Turkey and a 586MW CCGT plant in Pakistan.
